Frequently Asked Questions
Canterbury Road Co. candles are made with soy wax and cotton or wooden wicks. Every batch is hand poured in Texas by Shannon. Slight variations in scent may occur, as well a slight frosting effect. Frosting is a natural trait of soy wax and does not affect the scent throw or burn time.
What is your processing time?
Processing times will always be posted on your receipt and at the top of the website. The normal time is 3-4 weeks but supply delays can occur, especially in the winter, and because this is a small business, personal life can cause delays, too.
Do you ship to ___________ ?
If the USPS ships to you, so do I. Though it can be more expensive, I get better insurance on USPS packages, they arrive much faster, and come with tracking.
How much does shipping cost?
Shipping is calculated by weight and distance at checkout. I do not charge any handling fees, so the price you see at checkout are the final USPS rates.
How is your scent throw?
I work very hard to keep my scent throw as strong and complex as possible. However, cold and hot throws can be very different and I create each of my blends for its maximum hot throw potential. That means you can't always smell every scent note in the cold throw alone.
I'm having trouble burning my candle!
Proper candle care is essential to extend the life of your candle and experience its full potential.
Do not trim the wick too short before the first burn. Keep it between 1/4" - 1/3" inches. Wax has a memory, so the first burn is very important. Let the melted wax pool completely to the sides during every burn.
Keep the wick trimmed between burns and never burn your candle for more that 3-4 hours at a time.
Keep the candle away from drafts (and children and pets!) and do not burn them on a flammable surface.
Do not let any debris foreign objects get into the candle.
DO NOT LEAVE BURNING CANDLES UNATTENDED.
I don't know how to burn a wood wick!
Wooden wicks can be a bit trickier and need more attention than normal cotton wicks.
Make sure your wood wick is trimmed to between 1/8″ – 1/4″ before you light the candle. Wicks that are too long will not keep burning because the flame isn't correctly seated in the wax.
Trim the wick down to the same length before each successive burn. As with cotton wicks, don't let the candle burn too long.
Once the flame gets too low or too high, extinguish the candle and let it cool. Once properly trimmed, the flame will return to normal.
Do you make custom candles?
I do! Because my labels are professionally printed, I only do custom candles in blocks. I'll announce customs listings and the start of new blocks via instagram at @canterburyroadco
What is your return policy?
If a candle breaks in transit, contact me about a refund or exchange. I work hard to package my candles securely, but incidents can occur. I will need a picture of the broken candle. I cannot refund shipping for such orders.
What is your cancellation policy?
Due to the nature of candle-making, cancellations will be judged on a case-by-case basis and never after 24 hours.
Do you do wholesale orders or subscription boxes?
Yes! I'm now open to wholesale and bulk order inquiries. I would love to work with you! I need at least 6 weeks of lead time from time of deposit for new or custom designs.
I also love to do candles and wax melts for pre-order incentives, family celebrations, party favors, weddings, and baby showers.
